Age categories:
Pre-Teen, Junior, Senior, Adult & Made for Others. All age categories participate in person at the district level. Contestants enter and participate in District Contests in October based on the county where they reside. If you have a conflict with the date of your District Contest, please contact the State Director.
First Place Winners in the Junior, Senior, and Adult Categories advance to the State Competition held during
the Annual Montana Wool Growers Convention in Billings December 2-3, 2022 at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center.
First place winners in the Made for Others Category will advance to the State Competition IF their model is 6 years old or older at the time of the district contest, AND their model has not already won a trip to the state contest in another category.
ALL ENTRY FORMS and FEES as noted on the Montana Entry Form are due to the appropriate Directors by October 1, 2o22 (no late entries accepted).

Montana Entry Forms are available from your District and State Directors, and are also available at
our Facebook page – Montana Make It With Wool.
Your MIWW Entry is NOT complete until ALL paperwork, samples of fabric(s) and yarn(s), and fees
are received by the appropriate Directors.
1) Send to the District Director (as noted in the Montana MIWW brochure), a copy of the Montana Entry Form and a 3×3” swatch of each wool fabric
and/or a 12” length of each yarn used.
2) Send to the State Director a copy of the Montana Entry Form with a 5×5” sample of each
wool fabric and/or a 36” length of each yarn used, and a $7 testing fee for each piece of wool and/or
yarn used. (Make checks payable to Montana MIWW.)
Please note: if you previously had your
wool and/or yarn tested, you still need to send in a 3×3” fabric and/or a 12” yarn sample to the State
Director with your Montana Entry Form.

District Level: Wool yardage for all contestants. Junior, Senior, and Adult category winners will compete in the state competition. Made for other category winners will compete in the State competition IF their model is 6 years old or older at the time of the district contest AND their model has not already won a trip to the state contest in another category.
State Level: Wool yardage and sewing supplies for all contestants. Junior and Senior State Winners will receive a trip to the National MIWW Competition.
Adult Winner will receive wool yardage and a cash prize to help cover the cost of shipping the garment for judging at the National Level.

Quilt Requirements
1) Quilt top fiber content must be at least 60% wool.
2) Batting must be at least 60% wool or 100% cotton.
3) Backing must be at least 60% natural fiber (wool, cotton, linen, or silk).
4) Quilt may be constructed by an individual or group.
5) Any construction technique or a combination may be used (machine and/or hand).
6) Each quilt should have a label securely attached to the back (name and address).
Applique Project Requirements
1) All fiber content must be at least 60% wool.
2) Entry can be made from a purchased kit or a design from a pattern book.
3) All edges need to be finished with a machine and/or hand technique or a combination thereof.
4) Label on back with name and address
Afghan Requirements
1) Yarn must be at least 60% wool.
2) Entry can be knitted or crocheted.
3) Entry can be made from a purchased kit or a design from a pattern book.

General Contest Rules
1) Sizes: Wall hanging/Table runner, 56” X 72” throw (approx.), Twin, Queen, King, Wool Applique project, Afghan.
2) Entry must be completed during the current contest year Jan 1-Oct 15, 2022.
3) An individual or group may construct the entry.
4) Any age individual or group may construct the entry.
5) Entry fee is $10 per entry and is due October 1st, 2022.
6) Mail entries to: Jean Harrison, 615 Highland Ave., Dillon, MT 59725 with postmark no later than October 15, 2022.
– Quilts: entry form, fee, 1×1” swatches of each fabric used, and a 4×4” batting sample
– Applique Projects: entry form, fee, and 1×1” swatches of each fabric used
– Afghans: entry form, fee, and a 2” piece of each yarn used
7) The contest will be held in conjunction with the state MIWW contest December 3, 2022.
8) Entries will be displayed during the Annual MT Woolgrowers Convention and Style Show. Awards will be presented along with the MIWW garment awards.
9) If you want your entry protected you must put it in clear plastic. Contestants must make arrangements to pick-up entries at the contest or provide postage and insurance for their return.
